How does aromatherapy smell? What our natural soaps really do

"Aromatherapy" – the word appears on many products. But what does it mean when it's in a soap? And what actually happens when you use a soap with natural essential oils?
The difference starts with the oil
Not every soap that smells good contains real essential oils. Most commercial soaps and shower gels are scented with synthetic perfume – a collective term for chemical compounds that create a specific smell. This can be pleasant. But it has no aromatherapy effect.
Pure essential oils are different. They are the concentrated distillate of a plant – extracted by steam distillation or cold pressing. The lavender oil in our RELAXATION soap actually contains Linalool and Linalyl acetate, the natural ingredients of lavender. The lemongrass oil in our JOY OF LIFE soap contains citral. These are the substances our sense of smell and our nervous system react to.
What happens during washing?
When you wash with a soap that contains pure essential oils, the oil is activated by water and warmth. As it lathers, the aromatic substances rise – you smell them, you inhale them. This is precisely the moment when aromatherapy takes place: not through long-term skin contact, but through the scent itself.
This means: aromatherapy in soap is not a lie – but it works differently than with a diffuser or a scent pot. It is short, intense, daily. A moment in the morning or evening when the scent works its magic.
Our soaps and their intended effects
No soap heals and no soap treats. But pure essential oils have – depending on the ingredients – different directional effects that have been described in aromatherapy for decades:

What we are not saying
We make no medical promises. Natural soap is not a medicine, and essential oils are not remedies. What we can say is: Anyone who showers daily with a soap that smells like real Miner scent makes a small, conscious moment out of it – and that has a value that is hard to measure in numbers.
Our soaps (except VANILLA) contain exclusively pure essential oils. No synthetic perfume. That is our promise – and it is stated in the INCI declaration for every product.
