1. ABOUT TIROL SOAP

Who is behind Tirol Seife?

Tirol Seife is a handcrafted manufacturer from Wörgl, Tyrol – founded by Edina Szel and Zoltán. All soaps and care products are produced by us in small batches. No contract manufacturer, no mass production – only genuine craftsmanship from our own workshop.

Where are the natural soaps made?

In Wörgl, Tyrol, Austria. Each product is created in our own manufactory – from recipe development to the finished soap.

Why are your soaps handmade?

Because mass production and true cold saponification don't go together. In the cold process, the oils are not heated – and that's crucial: above 60°C, vegetable oils lose a large part of their valuable skin-care properties. By working at low temperatures, all these properties are preserved and end up directly in the soap.

In addition: Our manufacturing method produces no soap waste. We produce in such a way that no soap residue is left over – everything is processed. This requires more care and manual labor – but that's exactly what makes the difference.

What makes Tyrolean soap special?

Three things: All our fragrance blends are our own developments made from 100% pure essential oils – you’ll only find them with us. We produce palm-oil-free, plastic-free, and in small batches using the cold process method. And every soap must cure before it goes on sale – that’s non-negotiable for true natural soaps.

2. INGREDIENTS

What natural ingredients do you use?

We use exclusively vegetable oils such as organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, organic castor oil and olive oil, as well as pure essential oils for fragrance. No synthetic surfactants, no preservatives, no silicones.

Do your soaps contain palm oil?

No. We deliberately do not use palm oil – out of conviction, not just for marketing reasons.

Do you use essential oils or synthetic fragrance?

We only use pure essential oils. No synthetic perfumes. All our fragrance blends (except VANILLE, which contains a natural fragrance composition from Grasse, France) are proprietary developments made from pure vegetable oils.

Are your soaps free of microplastics?

Yes, completely. No microplastic particles, no silicones, no PEGs.

Why don't you use Titanium Dioxide in your soaps?

Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) is a white pigment that serves a purely aesthetic purpose – it has no skin care benefits. Instead, we color our soaps with natural alternatives such as healing clay, cosmetic clay, or activated charcoal.

Are your soaps vegan?

Most of our soaps are vegan. Some soaps contain animal ingredients such as Tyrolean forest honey, goat's milk or beeswax – this is clearly stated for each product. The 4in1 Solid Cream contains beeswax and is therefore not vegan.

Are your soaps cruelty-free?

Yes. We test exclusively on our own skin – no animal testing.

Are your soaps suitable for sensitive skin?

Many of our soaps are particularly mild – for example, our ALOE VERA, COCONUT MILK, or SEA SALT soaps. For very sensitive skin or known allergies, we recommend checking the INCI declaration, which is fully provided for each product.

What does "pure essential oils" mean?

Pure essential oils are the concentrated distillate of a plant – obtained through steam distillation or cold pressing. They contain genuine plant ingredients and have an aromatherapeutic effect. In contrast, synthetic perfume is a chemical imitation that has no nurturing value and no aromatherapeutic effect.

What is the difference between natural soap and industrial soap?

Industrial soap is often produced using the hot process, where valuable glycerine is extracted and sold separately. Our natural soaps are made using the cold process – the glycerine is fully retained, they cure naturally and contain no synthetic surfactants, preservatives, or silicones.

3. APPLICATION

How long does a bar of natural soap last?

With daily use by one person, a 100g natural soap lasts about 4–6 weeks – provided it is stored on a soap dish or magnetic holder after use and dries between applications.

How do I store natural soap correctly?

The soap should be able to dry thoroughly after each use – never leave it in standing water, as this will quickly dissolve it. It is best to store it on a soap dish with drainage, a magnetic soap holder, hung in a jute bag, or on a piece of loofah. Our olive wood soap dishes and Soapi magnetic soap holders are ideal for this.

Can I use natural soap daily?

a. Real cold process natural soap contains natural glycerin, which is a byproduct of saponification and nourishes the skin instead of drying it out. Daily use is even recommended.

Can I use natural soap on my face?

Yes – our soaps are whole-body soaps and suitable for face, hands, and body. People with very dry facial skin or skin prone to redness should start with a mild variety (e.g., LAVENDER or ALOE VERA).

Does natural soap lather as much as shower gel?

Natural soap lathers – but differently from shower gel, which uses synthetic surfactants. The lather is creamier and gentler. Those switching from shower gel sometimes need 1–2 weeks for their skin to adjust. After that, most find the lather more pleasant.

Why does natural soap sometimes lather less than usual?

Hard water (high lime content) reduces the lathering of natural soap. This is due to the chemical reaction between soap and lime. However, this does not mean that the soap cleans less effectively – its cleaning power remains fully intact.

4. AROMATHERAPY

What is aromatherapy with natural soap?

When lathering a soap with pure essential oils, the aromatic compounds are released by water and heat – you smell them and breathe them in. It is precisely at this moment that aromatherapy works: briefly, intensely, daily. A mindful moment during washing that can affect your mood and well-being.

Which Tirol Seife soap has a relaxing effect?

RELAXATION (Lavender), LOVE, ROSE GARDEN, FOREST HONEY-LEMON and ROSE have a calming, balancing effect. Ideal for the evening routine.

Which soap provides energy and has an invigorating effect?

LEBENSFREUDE (Lemongrass, Lemon, Litsea Cubeba), WALDSPAZIERGANG (Swiss Pine, Lemon) and BERGMANN (Cedarwood, Silver Fir) have an invigorating and clarifying effect. Ideal for the morning.

How strong is the scent of natural soaps with essential oils?

The scent unfolds when lathering – it is precisely at this moment that the pure essential oils have their aromatherapy effect. The point is not to smell of perfume after showering, but rather that the scent affects the senses and well-being during use. This is the difference from synthetic perfume, which is primarily optimized for longevity – our soaps are made for skin health and aromatherapy.

Which fragrances are proprietary developments by Tirol Seife?

All our fragrance blends – BERGMANN, LOVE, ROSENGARTEN, WALDSPAZIERGANG, ZIMTSCHNECKE, ENTSPANNUNG, LEBENSFREUDE and WALDNEBEL – are proprietary developments made from pure essential oils. These compositions are exclusively available from us.

5. SUSTAINABILITY

Why is bar soap more sustainable than liquid soap?

Liquid soap mostly consists of water and requires preservatives as well as a plastic bottle. Solid natural soap, on the other hand, comes without water, without preservatives, and without plastic packaging – and lasts longer per application and is more affordable.

How sustainable is your packaging?

Completely plastic-free. We package with paper, without plastic films or plastic tapes. What arrives in your mailbox leaves no plastic waste.

Are your soaps biodegradable?

Yes. Our soaps are made from saponified vegetable oils and pure natural essential oils – all ingredients are biodegradable. No synthetic surfactants, no silicones, no PEG compounds.

What is SapoCycle and how is Tirol Soap involved?

SapoCycle is a non-profit organization that collects barely used hotel soaps, recycles them in workshops for people with disabilities, and distributes them to those in need. SapoCycle is already active in several European countries – including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and France. As a manufacturer and supplier of natural soap to hotels in the DACH region, we are part of this cycle: our biodegradable natural soaps are ideal for recycling due to their pure ingredients.

Why is biodegradable soap better for the environment?

Synthetic surfactants and silicones – like those found in shower gels and industrial soaps – are hardly biodegradable and permanently pollute waters and soils.

Our soaps made from saponified vegetable oils are completely biodegradable. This makes a real difference – for alpine streams in Tyrol as well as for rivers and seas throughout Europe.

9. MAGNETIC SOAP HOLDERS & SOAP DISHES

How does a magnetic soap holder work?

Which surfaces does the Soapi magnetic soap holder adhere to?

On tiles, glass, stainless steel, mirrors and smooth ceramic surfaces. Not suitable for surfaces with lotus-effect coating.

Why is olive wood a good soap dish?

Olive wood is naturally water-resistant and antibacterial – without varnish, without chemicals. It is durable, each piece is unique due to its individual grain, and it fits perfectly with the philosophy of natural soap.
