Anyone who has ever stroked an alpaca immediately understands why we incorporate this wool into our soaps. It is incredibly soft, light, and warm – and a true gift of nature for the skin.

Alpacas originally come from the High Andes of South America, where they have been valued for their extraordinary wool for thousands of years. Today, there are also more and more alpaca farms in Tyrol and Austria – and we are proud to include this special raw material in our handmade soaps.

What makes alpaca wool so special for the skin?

Alpaca wool naturally contains keratin – the same protein that our skin, hair, and nails are made of. This natural keratin is released directly to the skin during washing. It smooths the skin's surface, strengthens the natural skin barrier, and provides a silky-soft feeling that lasts for hours after washing.

At the same time, alpaca wool acts as a gentle, natural exfoliant: the fine wool fibers remove dead skin cells without irritating the skin. Unlike synthetic exfoliating particles or microplastics, alpaca wool is completely biodegradable and skin-friendly.

Animal-friendly and sustainable

Alpaca wool is obtained during shearing – a process that does not harm the animals and even contributes to their health. The wool grows back, making it a completely renewable raw material. We pay attention to animal-friendly husbandry conditions when selecting our alpaca wool.

Is alpaca wool in soap vegan? Alpaca wool is an animal product and therefore not vegan. However, it is obtained without harm to the animal.

Can I use the soap if I have a wool allergy? Alpaca wool is considered hypoallergenic and does not contain lanolin – which is the most common trigger for wool allergies. Many people who react to sheep's wool tolerate alpaca wool without problems. If in doubt, we recommend a short patch test.
