Showering with soap: Why the classic is better for skin and the environment
Share
Shower gel comes in plastic, usually contains microplastics, and lathers with chemicals. Soap comes in paper, nourishes with oils, and lathers naturally. We explain why this classic is making a well-deserved comeback.
Why Shower Gel Does More Harm Than You Think
Liquid shower gels consist of about 80% water – the rest are surfactants, preservatives, artificial fragrances, and plastic packaging. Synthetic surfactants attack the skin's natural acid mantle. The result: dryness, tightness, irritated skin – every day.
What Natural Soap Does Better
Superfatted – non-drying
Our natural soaps are superfatted with nourishing oils. After cleansing, a protective film remains on the skin – no feeling of dryness, no tightness.
No microplastics
Many shower gels contain microplastic particles that end up in wastewater. Natural soap does not.
No preservatives
Solid soap does not require chemical preservatives – it lasts naturally.
Less waste
With proper storage, a natural soap lasts significantly longer than a plastic bottle of shower gel – and comes packaged plastic-free from us.
For which skin type?
– Dry skin → Shea butter, almond oil or goat's milk soaps

Tips for Switching
Give your skin some time – after years of shower gel, it sometimes needs a few days to adjust.
Natural scents are more subtle than synthetic perfumes – but more authentic and skin-friendly.
Store soap correctly: on a soap dish with drainage, well-ventilated, dry. This way it lasts longest.
The difference is noticeable – even after the first shower.
