Anyone who relies on natural care eventually thinks about the soap dish. Plastic doesn't fit. Ceramic is beautiful, but cold. And then there's olive wood – and suddenly the decision is easy.
What makes olive wood different from other woods
Olive wood is one of the densest and most oil-rich woods in the world. That sounds technical – but behind it lies something fascinating: The wood's high natural oil content makes it naturally water-resistant and antibacterial. Without varnish. Without chemical treatment. Without coating.
This means: an olive wood soap dish withstands daily contact with water and soap without quickly molding or swelling – which is not the case with many other types of wood.
The reason lies in the tree itself. Olive trees grow slowly, often over centuries. Each year leaves traces in the wood – in the direction of the fibers, in the distribution of the dark veins, in the transitions between light sapwood and the deeper heartwood. The result is wood that is robust from the inside out.
No varnish, no chemicals
Our soap dishes are natural. No varnish is applied, no synthetic sealant is used. Only to protect against drying out, the surfaces are occasionally treated with a few drops of olive oil – that's it.
This is a conscious decision: A soap dish that comes into daily contact with your natural soap should itself be free of chemicals. Olive wood makes this possible.
Each piece unique
Because olive wood is a natural product, each dish differs in grain, color tones, and pattern. The warm golden tones, the almost black veins, the interplay between light and dark – this is created by the natural growth of the tree, not by design. What you receive is not the same as in the product photo. It is your piece.
Where does the wood come from?
The olive wood for our soap dishes comes from selected plantations in the Mediterranean region. An important principle: The wood is only released for processing when the tree no longer bears fruit. No healthy, producing olive tree is felled.
Small or large?
We offer our olive wood soap dishes in two sizes: the small dish (approx. 9 cm) for mini soaps and small spaces – ideal for the guest toilet – and the large dish with a groove, matched to our 100g natural soaps.
