The Olive Wood Scent Box is one of the simplest yet most elegant ways to diffuse essential oils in a room. Simply add a few drops of your desired oil to the included olive wood shavings inside the box – open the lid, let the scent spread. When the desired intensity is reached or you want to pause the scent, just close the lid. It's that simple.

How does the Scent Box work?

Inside the box are olive wood shavings – natural, absorbent, and ideal as a carrier for essential oils. A few drops of the desired oil are placed on the shavings. The shavings absorb the oil and slowly and evenly release the scent into the room air – completely without heat, completely without electricity.

The decisive advantage over electric diffusers or aroma lamps: the release is passive and significantly gentler. No atomization, no evaporation, no heat alteration of the oil. The scent spreads calmly and evenly – pleasant, not intrusive.

Who is the Scent Box particularly suitable for?

For anyone who doesn't want electricity: No power outlet needed, no cable, no hassle. The Scent Box works anywhere – on the nightstand, in the bathroom, in the office, in the car.

For anyone who doesn't want an open flame: Unlike scented candles or aroma lamps, the box works completely without fire. Ideal for bedrooms, children's rooms, or anywhere an open flame would be unpleasant or unsafe.

For households with pets: The passive, slow release of fragrance from the box is generally milder than the continuous nebulization of an electric diffuser – making it a gentler option in households with cats or dogs. But: Safe does not mean that every oil can be used without hesitation. The choice of the right oil remains crucial.

Oils that should be used with particular caution in pet households (cinnamon oil, clove oil, tea tree oil, peppermint oil) also apply to the Scent Box. The most important principle remains: the room must be well ventilated, and the pet must always have the option to leave the room. Even with the box: Never place it directly next to the pet.

Oils that are considered comparatively well tolerated in pet households and are well suited for the Scent Box: lavender oil, cedarwood oil, amyris (sandalwood) and stone pine oil – always in well-ventilated rooms with a retreat option for the pet.

For households with children: The gentler release of the box makes it milder than electric diffusers – an advantage for more sensitive individuals. Nevertheless, the choice of oil is crucial. Peppermint oil, cinnamon oil, eucalyptus, and camphor should not be used in rooms with toddlers and babies. Lavender oil and chamomile are among the few oils that are also considered mild for babies from 3 months in specialist literature – in low dosages.

For unpleasant everyday odors: Kitchen, wardrobe, toilet, basement – wherever unpleasant odors occasionally spread, the box can simply be opened. Close it again after a while. No electricity, no effort, no forgetting.

How many drops of essential oil do I need? 2-4 drops on the olive wood shavings are enough for a pleasant, subtle room scent. More or less can be used depending on the desired intensity.

How often do I need to replenish the oil? Depending on the oil and room size, after a few days to a week. As soon as the scent diminishes, simply add 1-2 more drops.

Can I combine different oils? Yes - simply add different oils to the shavings and mix them yourself. This creates individual fragrance compositions.

Can I also use the box for other purposes? Yes - the olive wood box is also suitable as a small storage box for jewelry, lip balm, or other small items.

Is the Scent Box safer than an electric diffuser in households with pets? The passive release is milder than the continuous nebulization of an electric diffuser – which is an advantage. But the choice of oil remains crucial. Certain oils like tea tree oil, cinnamon oil, and clove oil should also be avoided in pet households when using the box.

Olive wood grows slowly. An olive tree can live for hundreds of years, and each of these years leaves its mark on the wood: in the direction of the fibers, in the distribution of the dark veins, in the transitions between light sapwood and the deeper, darker heartwood. No two trees grow alike – and thus no two bowls are alike.

What this means in practice: The bowl you receive will not look exactly like the one in the product photo. The basic shape is the same, but the grain, colors, and pattern are individual. Sometimes warm honey and golden tones predominate, sometimes stronger contrasts with almost black veins on a light background appear – sometimes the grain flows calmly, sometimes it twists in graceful curves.

This is not a defect. It is proof that you are holding a genuine natural product – and not an industrially uniform piece.

Olive wood is naturally robust and easy to care for. With a few simple steps, your soap dish will last for many years and retain its beautiful, high-contrast grain.

Cleaning

For cleaning, a soft sponge, lukewarm water, and a little dish soap are sufficient. Important: Do not leave the dish to air dry afterwards, but immediately wipe it dry with a kitchen towel. Standing water will damage the wood over time.

Oiling – how to keep the grain beautiful

Olive wood will show you itself when it's time for oiling: as soon as the typical, high-contrast grain starts to fade, the right moment has come. Simply apply a few drops of olive oil or another vegetable oil from the kitchen to the surface and gently rub it in. This protects the wood from drying out and brings out the warm tones again. Depending on usage, oiling 2-3 times a year is recommended.

What to avoid

Dishwashers, hot soaking water, and direct heat sources are the biggest enemies of olive wood. The wood can crack and become unsightly.
